Zoo Outreach - Tuesday February 9th |
On the 9th February, we had a special guest visit our school and talk to all classes. His name was Jim and he was from Dublin Zoo. He told us about lots of different animals, where they live and how they hunt. He also showed us how they react to danger. It was an amazing experience. He talked to us about elephants and how they are the heaviest mammal. He told us about the trunk of the elephant and their toes. We learned that the elephant always walks on their toes. Then he told us about the Giraffe, the tallest animal in the world. We learned that the giraffe only sleeps for thirty minutes a day! He showed us a slide show of different animals. Everyone got to feel the skin of tigers and see an elephant foot and tooth. We also learned how zoos protect animals and stop them becoming extinct. We also learned some strange facts too.
