Intel Mini Scientist
Ms. Gannon’s fifth class, Ms. Finnegan's fifth class and Ms. Dunne’s sixth class entered the Intel Mini Scientist. Children explore science through project based learning and present it in an exhibition. Our exhibition was held in our school hall on Monday November 30th. Children worked on their projects as individual or in groups of up to four people. They each came up with their own scientific investigation. Each group had their own project presented in a project book and visual display which the judge questioned them about. The Intel judge viewed all the amazing projects and was very impressed. A winner was selected and they will represent us in the National Final in Leixlip in December.
The winners were:
1st: Emily Greene and Sadbh Duggan - Which food or drink stains clothes the most and why
2nd: Kate Fensom - Is the Future Square?
3rd: Alex Madden, Adam Nunan, Alex Treacy and Marcus Doyle - What is PH balance and how do we test it?
Cian O Riordan, Ben Murphy and Colm D'Alton - How much does it cost to leave electrical devices running over night?
Danny Murphy - How does a potato light up a light bulb?
